OUR VERDICT

Motion is an AI work app that plans your projects and tasks on your calendar and reshuffles the plan when things change, with booking pages and a meeting notetaker included. It is a strong upgrade for owners who will run their projects inside it, but at $19 a seat a month with no free plan, it is too much if you only need meetings booked.

What Motion is

Motion combines task management, project management, calendar scheduling, meetings and docs in one app, with AI throughout Motion ↗. Its core idea is auto scheduling: Motion takes your projects and tasks, prioritizes them and time blocks them on your calendar, then re-plans when things change Motion ↗.

Around that, it adds booking pages for outside meetings, an AI notetaker that records meetings and writes summaries and action items, and a docs space for notes, processes and wikis Motion ↗. It combines Outlook, Google and iCloud calendars in one view Motion ↗. There are desktop, iOS and Android apps Motion pricing ↗.

Hands on testing is in progress, and we will update this review with our results.

What it does well

It plans the week for you. Instead of deciding each morning what to work on, you add tasks with deadlines and priorities, and Motion fits them around your meetings Motion ↗. When a meeting runs long or a new urgent task lands, it reshuffles the rest of the plan Motion ↗. For an owner juggling sales, operations and admin, that removes a daily planning chore.

It replaces several tools. Pro AI includes AI chat, AI projects and tasks, the AI calendar and meetings, AI docs and notes, a task planner and an AI writer Motion pricing ↗. If you currently pay for a to do app, a project tool, a booking link and a notetaker, Motion can cover all four.

Booking pages protect your time. Motion's booking pages show your availability and schedule meetings, so clients can book without email back and forth Motion ↗.

It connects to common tools. Motion's home page names Google Meet, Gmail, Outlook, Siri, HubSpot and Salesforce among its integrations Motion ↗. It says it is SOC 2 Type II compliant and encrypts data in transit and at rest Motion ↗.

Where it falls short

There is no free plan. Motion offers a free trial but does not state its length or whether a card is needed Motion pricing ↗. By contrast, Reclaim and Cal.com both have free plans Reclaim pricing ↗ Cal.com pricing ↗.

It costs more than a scheduling only tool. Pro AI is $19 per seat a month, while Calendly Standard is $10 per seat a month on yearly billing Motion pricing ↗ Calendly pricing ↗. You only get value from the extra cost if you move your projects and tasks into Motion.

AI use is metered. Each plan includes a monthly allowance of AI credits, and the pricing page lists extra credit packs, but it does not say what happens when you run out Motion pricing ↗.

Marketing claims are the vendor's own. Motion says projects get done 32% faster and that its AI is over 90% accurate out of the box Motion ↗. These figures are not independently verified.

Pricing and plans

Pro AI costs $19 per seat a month. It is aimed at professionals and small teams and includes 7,500 AI credits per seat each month, AI chat, projects and tasks, the AI calendar and meetings, docs and notes, a task planner, an AI writer, unlimited storage, apps and integrations Motion pricing ↗.

Business AI costs $29 per seat a month. It adds team capacity planning, advanced dashboards and reports, timeline and Gantt charts, time tracking, permissions, central billing and priority support, with 15,000 AI credits per seat each month Motion pricing ↗.

Motion says paying annually saves 33%, but the page does not list annual prices Motion pricing ↗. Extra AI credits are sold in packs, listed at 25 cents or 19 cents per 100 credits Motion pricing ↗.

There is no free plan. A free trial is offered with cancel anytime terms, but the length is not stated Motion pricing ↗. No enterprise plan or refund policy is listed on the pricing page Motion pricing ↗.
