Yes, a good robot vacuum can deep clean low and medium pile carpet, but spec sheet suction is a poor guide. For carpet heavy homes we recommend the Roborock Qrevo CurvX: Vacuum Wars measured it removing 92 percent of sand embedded in carpet against a 77 percent average, it wrapped no hair in a tangle test, and its mops lift 17 mm on carpet. It sells for about $800 to $1,200 against a $1,499.99 list price.
Robot vacuums are mature products, and labs such as Vacuum Wars and Tom's Guide publish carpet pickup tests. Results on very thick or shag carpet are less consistent, and the labs do not all test the same carpets.Roborock Qrevo CurvX: our pick
Best for wall to wall carpet and rugs: top tier deep carpet pickup with mops that stay well clear.
The Roborock Qrevo CurvX is the strongest carpet cleaner we found that is not already a top pick elsewhere on our site. In Vacuum Wars' carpet deep clean test it removed 92 percent of embedded sand, against a 77 percent average, and Vacuum Wars ranks the robot third overall in its database Vacuum Wars best robot vacuum ↗ Vacuum Wars, CurvX review ↗. It also wrapped no hair in Vacuum Wars' 7 inch hair tangle test, which matters on carpet because long hair gets pulled deep into the pile Vacuum Wars, Qrevo CurvX data ↗.
It protects carpet from the mop better than most. Vacuum Wars lists a 17 mm mop raising height, the highest of our picks, plus carpet boost and a DuoDivide main brush Vacuum Wars, Qrevo CurvX data ↗. Its reviewer found the automatic mop lift on carpet worked well Vacuum Wars, CurvX review ↗. It is 3.14 inches tall, so it reaches under low beds and sofas where dust collects on carpet Roborock Qrevo CurvX ↗.
Its numbers show why rated suction misleads. Roborock rates it at 22,000 Pa, yet Vacuum Wars measured 0.54 kPa at the bench, below its 0.96 kPa average, and it still cleaned carpet better than almost anything it tested Vacuum Wars, Qrevo CurvX data ↗ Vacuum Wars, CurvX review ↗. The downsides: its onboard bin is small at 258 mL, its dock bag is rated for only 49 days, and the warranty is 1 year Vacuum Wars, Qrevo CurvX data ↗. Prices varied a lot when we checked, from $799.99 at Roborock's store on Oct 9 to $1,199.99 at Wellbots Roborock Qrevo CurvX ↗ Wellbots, Qrevo CurvX ↗.
Why we like Roborock Qrevo CurvX
- 92 percent deep carpet pickup in Vacuum Wars' test
- No hair wrapped in a 7 inch tangle test
- Mops lift 17 mm on carpet
- Carpet boost and a slim 3.14 inch body
Where Roborock Qrevo CurvX falls short
- Small 258 mL onboard bin
- Dock bag rated for only 49 days
- 1 year warranty
- Price swings widely between sellers
Shark PowerDetect UV Reveal: best for pet messes on carpet
Best for carpeted homes with pets, and Tom's Guide's best robot for carpet.
Tom's Guide names the Shark PowerDetect UV Reveal its best robot vacuum for carpet Tom's Guide best robot vacuums ↗. In its lab tests on carpet it scored 97 for Cheerios, 55 for kitty litter and 100 for pet hair Tom's Guide best robot vacuums ↗. Kitty litter is the hardest test for most robots because the grains sink into the pile, so that 55 is worth knowing if you have cats.
Shark's UK page says Floor Detect avoids carpets while mopping and that the robot picks up and drops off its mop at the base, so rugs stay dry Shark UK, UV Reveal ↗. It has an anti tangle brushroll, a rated runtime of about 3 hours, and a 2 year warranty on Shark's Canadian page Shark Canada, UV Reveal ↗. The UV light helps it find dried pet messes that are hard to see Shark Canada, UV Reveal ↗.
Shark does not publish a suction rating or say whether it boosts suction on carpet Shark UK, UV Reveal ↗ Shark Canada, UV Reveal ↗. Tom's Guide found its map editing clunky Tom's Guide best robot vacuums ↗. It sold for $849.99 on Amazon in September 2026, against a $1,299.99 list price Technobezz, Shark UV Reveal ↗.
Why we like Shark PowerDetect UV Reveal
- Tom's Guide's best robot vacuum for carpet
- Perfect pet hair score on carpet in Tom's Guide tests
- Avoids carpet while mopping and, per Shark's UK page, drops its mop at the base
- Long runtime, about 3 hours rated
Where Shark PowerDetect UV Reveal falls short
- Weaker on kitty litter in carpet
- No published suction figure
- Clunky map editing
MOVA Mobius 60: best for carpet and mopping
Best for mixed carpet and hard floors when you want real mopping without wet rugs.
The MOVA Mobius 60 had the highest measured suction of our picks. Vacuum Wars recorded 1.36 kPa, against 0.54 for the CurvX, and 88 percent on its carpet deep clean test against a 77 percent average Vacuum Wars, Mobius 60 data ↗ Vacuum Wars, Mobius 60 review ↗. It also picked up 94 percent of flattened pet hair from carpet and earned a perfect score in the hair tangle test Vacuum Wars, Mobius 60 review ↗.
It is built to clean carpet and floors in the same run. A pressure retention baffle lowers on carpet to boost suction, the mop pads lift 10.5 mm, and you can leave the pads at the base for carpet only runs Vacuum Wars, Mobius 60 review ↗. MOVA rates it at 30,000 Pa Vacuum Wars, Mobius 60 data ↗. Vacuum Wars lists a 3 year warranty and a 3.2 liter dock bag rated for 100 days Vacuum Wars, Mobius 60 data ↗.
The limits: Vacuum Wars estimates about 904 square feet per charge against a 1,170 average, so very large carpeted homes may need a recharge mid run Vacuum Wars, Mobius 60 review ↗. RTINGS found the Roborock Saros 20 picked up meaningfully more debris and pet hair on carpet than the Mobius 60 RTINGS, Mobius 60 vs Saros 20 ↗. It cost $849 on Amazon on October 12, 2026 Vacuum Wars, Mobius 60 review ↗.
Why we like MOVA Mobius 60
- Highest measured suction of our picks
- 88 percent deep carpet pickup
- Mops lift 10.5 mm or stay at the base
- 3 year warranty
Where MOVA Mobius 60 falls short
- Below average area per charge
- Beaten on carpet by the pricier Saros 20 at RTINGS
Yeedi C14 Pro Plus: budget pick
Best for carpeted homes on a budget that mainly need vacuuming.
The Yeedi C14 Pro Plus is the cheapest robot we found with strong independent carpet results. Vacuum Wars rated its carpet deep cleaning above average and measured 94 percent pickup of flattened pet hair, with no hair wrapped in its tangle test Vacuum Wars, Yeedi C14 Pro Plus ↗. It has carpet boost in vacuum mode and 11,000 Pa of rated suction Vacuum Wars, Yeedi C14 Pro Plus ↗. Vacuum Wars names it its best budget robot at $279.96 Vacuum Wars best robot vacuum ↗.
Its mop is a fixed pad that does not lift, so in vacuum and mop mode it simply avoids carpets Vacuum Wars, Yeedi C14 Pro Plus ↗. That keeps rugs dry, but it means carpet and hard floors get cleaned in separate runs if you want both. It has no dedicated obstacle avoidance, supports only 2.4 GHz Wi Fi, and Vacuum Wars did not list a warranty Vacuum Wars, Yeedi C14 Pro Plus ↗.
Why we like Yeedi C14 Pro Plus
- Above average carpet deep cleaning in lab tests
- No hair tangles
- Carpet boost
- Under $300 on sale
Where Yeedi C14 Pro Plus falls short
- Mop pad does not lift
- No obstacle avoidance

Who this is for
This guide is for homes that are mostly carpet, or that have large area rugs in the main rooms. Carpet asks different things of a robot than hard floors. Fine grit and sand sink into the pile where only strong airflow and a good brush reach them. Long hair wraps around the brush and has to be cut off by hand. And a robot that mops can drag a wet pad across a rug.
So we ranked differently from our other robot vacuum guides. Our main guide balances carpet, hard floors and mopping; our mop combo guide is about mopping. Here, independent carpet pickup comes first, then tangle resistance, then carpet boost and how well the robot keeps its mop off carpet.
If your home is mostly hard floors, a carpet focused pick is not the best value. Look at our main robot vacuum guide instead.
How we picked
We do not test robot vacuums ourselves yet. We relied on Vacuum Wars, which measures how much sand a robot removes from carpet and runs a 7 inch hair tangle test, and Tom's Guide, which scores debris and pet hair pickup on carpet Vacuum Wars best robot vacuum ↗ Tom's Guide best robot vacuums ↗. We used maker suction ratings only as a secondary guide and checked prices in October 2026.
Where possible we picked a different top pick from our other robot vacuum guides. The Roborock Qrevo Edge 3 Pro, our overall pick, removed 93 percent of embedded sand at Vacuum Wars, essentially level with the CurvX, so it is also an excellent carpet choice if you already own or prefer it Vacuum Wars, $1,300 to $1,600 ↗.
- Independent carpet deep clean or carpet pickup results, cited
- Hair tangle test results for the main brush
- Brush roll type and anti tangle design
- Carpet detection with automatic suction boost
- Mops that lift high, detach, or avoid carpet so rugs stay dry
- Maker suction in Pa, treated as a secondary signal
Why Pa ratings do not predict carpet cleaning
Makers quote suction in pascals, and the numbers keep climbing: 22,000 Pa for the CurvX, 30,000 Pa for the Mobius 60, 36,000 Pa for the Qrevo Edge 3 Pro Vacuum Wars, Qrevo CurvX data ↗ Vacuum Wars, Mobius 60 data ↗ Vacuum Wars, $1,300 to $1,600 ↗. These are maker ratings measured their own way.
Lab measurements tell a different story. Vacuum Wars measured the CurvX at 0.54 kPa, well below average, yet it removed 92 percent of embedded sand Vacuum Wars, Qrevo CurvX data ↗. It measured the Qrevo Edge 3 Pro about one third below average despite its 36,000 Pa rating, yet that robot removed 93 percent Vacuum Wars, $1,300 to $1,600 ↗. Brush design, sealing and airflow at the floor matter as much as the motor.
That is why we lead with carpet pickup tests. If a robot has no independent carpet result, treat its Pa rating as a hint, not proof.
How to keep a mopping robot off your carpet
There are four approaches, from best to most basic. Some robots leave their mops at the dock for carpet runs: the Mobius 60 and the MOVA V70 can do this Vacuum Wars, Mobius 60 review ↗ SHC, MOVA V70 ↗. Some lift the mop: the CurvX lifts 17 mm, the Mobius 60 and V70 lift 10.5 mm Vacuum Wars, Qrevo CurvX data ↗ Vacuum Wars, Mobius 60 data ↗ SHC, MOVA V70 ↗. Some simply avoid carpet while mopping, like the Shark and the Yeedi Shark UK, UV Reveal ↗ Vacuum Wars, Yeedi C14 Pro Plus ↗. And some do none of these: the Dreame D10 Plus Gen 2's mop pad cannot lift or detach, so you must remove it before a carpet run Dreame D10 Plus Gen 2 ↗.
For thick rugs, a lift of about 10 mm may not be enough, so a robot that can drop its mops at the base is the safest choice. In the app, mark rugs as carpet and set them as no mop zones as a backup.
Before you buy
Check your carpet height. Low and medium pile carpet suits every pick here. Very thick or shag rugs can stall robots, and Tom's Guide found budget models like the Dreame D10 Plus Gen 2 weak on thick carpet, scoring just 40 for pet hair on carpet Tom's Guide best robot vacuums ↗.
Check the transition from hard floor to carpet. Thick rugs on top of hard floors act like thresholds; Vacuum Wars lists the CurvX at 40 mm of threshold climbing, so measure your thickest rug edge Vacuum Wars, Qrevo CurvX data ↗.
Plan for the bin. Carpet with pets fills a small onboard bin fast, so a self emptying dock is worth it. The CurvX has a small 258 mL bin Vacuum Wars, Qrevo CurvX data ↗.
- Measure rug and carpet height
- Pick a robot with no hair wrap in independent tangle tests if you have long hair or pets
- Turn on carpet boost in the app
- Set rugs as no mop zones even if the mop lifts
- Vacuum high traffic carpet daily on a schedule
- Keep an upright for stairs and occasional deep cleans
What to look forward to
Carpet results are improving fast at the top end. Vacuum Wars lists the Dreame L60 Ultra PE at 94 percent embedded sand removal, second highest of nearly 200 robots it has tested, and the Roborock Saros 20 Sonic at 92 percent; neither is in our catalog yet Vacuum Wars best robot vacuum ↗. Docks that remove mops entirely for carpet runs are also spreading to midrange models Vacuum Wars, Mobius 60 review ↗ SHC, MOVA V70 ↗. We will add them as prices and independent results settle.
The competition
Roborock Qrevo Edge 3 Pro$999.99 (list $1,499.99)
The Roborock Qrevo Edge 3 Pro removed 93 percent of embedded sand at Vacuum Wars, one point ahead of our pick, with no hair wrap Vacuum Wars, $1,300 to $1,600 ↗. It is our overall robot vacuum pick, and Vacuum Wars showed it at $1,499.99 in October, above the CurvX Vacuum Wars best robot vacuum ↗.
Roborock Saros 20Around $1,480 (checked Oct 2026)
RTINGS found the Roborock Saros 20 picked up meaningfully more debris and pet hair on carpet than the Mobius 60 RTINGS, Mobius 60 vs Saros 20 ↗. Vacuum Wars measured 89 percent sand removal and showed it at $1,599.99, so it costs nearly double our pick Vacuum Wars best robot vacuum ↗.
MOVA V70 Ultra CompleteAround $1,000 (checked Oct 2026)
The MOVA V70 Ultra Complete detects carpet with an ultrasonic sensor, boosts suction, and lifts its mops 10.5 mm or leaves them at the dock SHC, MOVA V70 ↗. It is our pet hair pick, and Vacuum Wars showed it at $999 Vacuum Wars best robot vacuum ↗.
eufy Robot Vacuum Omni C28Around $799.99 (checked Oct 2026)
The eufy Omni C28 removed 89 percent of embedded sand at Vacuum Wars and was listed at $529.99 Vacuum Wars best robot vacuum ↗. eufy publishes fewer specs for it, and we could not confirm how its roller mop handles carpet.
Dreame D10 Plus Gen 2Around $300 to $400 (checked Oct 2026)
The Dreame D10 Plus Gen 2 is a fine budget robot for hard floors, but Tom's Guide found it weak on thick carpet, and its mop cannot lift or detach Tom's Guide best robot vacuums ↗ Dreame D10 Plus Gen 2 ↗.
Questions people ask
What is the best robot vacuum for carpet?
The Roborock Qrevo CurvX, for most carpet heavy homes. Vacuum Wars measured it removing 92 percent of embedded sand from carpet against a 77 percent average, with no hair tangles, and its mops lift 17 mm Vacuum Wars, Qrevo CurvX data ↗ Vacuum Wars, CurvX review ↗. Tom's Guide's own best for carpet pick is the Shark PowerDetect UV Reveal Tom's Guide best robot vacuums ↗.
Does higher suction (Pa) mean better carpet cleaning?
Not reliably. The CurvX is rated at 22,000 Pa but measured 0.54 kPa, below average, and still removed 92 percent of embedded sand Vacuum Wars, Qrevo CurvX data ↗. The Qrevo Edge 3 Pro is rated at 36,000 Pa, measured about one third below average, and removed 93 percent Vacuum Wars, $1,300 to $1,600 ↗. Look at independent carpet tests instead.
Can a robot vacuum clean thick or high pile carpet?
Low and medium pile, yes; thick and shag carpet is hit and miss. Tom's Guide found the budget Dreame D10 Plus Gen 2 weak on thick carpet Tom's Guide best robot vacuums ↗. Pick a robot with strong carpet test results and check that it can climb onto your rugs: Vacuum Wars lists the CurvX for thresholds up to 40 mm Vacuum Wars, Qrevo CurvX data ↗.
Will a robot mop get my carpet wet?
Not if it lifts, detaches or avoids. The CurvX lifts its mops 17 mm and the Mobius 60 lifts 10.5 mm or leaves its pads at the base Vacuum Wars, Qrevo CurvX data ↗ Vacuum Wars, Mobius 60 review ↗. Shark's UK page says it avoids carpet while mopping and can drop its mop at the base Shark UK, UV Reveal ↗. The Dreame D10 Plus Gen 2's pad cannot lift, so remove it before carpet runs Dreame D10 Plus Gen 2 ↗.
Which robot vacuums do not tangle hair on carpet?
The Qrevo CurvX, Mobius 60 and Yeedi C14 Pro Plus all wrapped no hair in Vacuum Wars' 7 inch hair tangle test Vacuum Wars, Qrevo CurvX data ↗ Vacuum Wars, Mobius 60 review ↗ Vacuum Wars, Yeedi C14 Pro Plus ↗. The Qrevo Edge 3 Pro also left none Vacuum Wars, $1,300 to $1,600 ↗. Tangle resistance matters more on carpet because the brush pulls hair out of the pile.
What is carpet boost on a robot vacuum?
Carpet boost raises suction automatically when the robot senses carpet, then drops it on hard floors to save battery. The CurvX and Yeedi C14 Pro Plus have it, and the Mobius 60 also lowers a baffle to seal around the brush on carpet Vacuum Wars, Qrevo CurvX data ↗ Vacuum Wars, Yeedi C14 Pro Plus ↗ Vacuum Wars, Mobius 60 review ↗. Turn it on in the app.
What is the best cheap robot vacuum for carpet?
The Yeedi C14 Pro Plus. Vacuum Wars rated its carpet deep cleaning above average, found no hair tangles and names it its best budget robot at $279.96 Vacuum Wars, Yeedi C14 Pro Plus ↗ Vacuum Wars best robot vacuum ↗. Its mop is basic and it has no obstacle avoidance Vacuum Wars, Yeedi C14 Pro Plus ↗.
