OUR VERDICT

QuillBot is a low cost toolkit for rewording, summarizing and checking text, built around its paraphraser. Premium is cheap at $8.33 a month billed yearly and adds a plagiarism checker, so it is worth it for students and anyone who rewrites a lot, but it is not built for drafting original business writing from scratch.

What QuillBot is

QuillBot is a set of AI writing tools in one account. The core is a paraphraser that rewrites your text in different styles, called modes QuillBot ↗. Around it sit a summarizer, a grammar checker, an AI detector, a humanizer that rewrites AI sounding text, a translator, a citation generator and an AI chat for writing help QuillBot ↗.

It works on the web and through a Chrome or Edge extension, a Word add in, a macOS app and Android and iOS apps QuillBot ↗. Premium can run on up to 10 devices at a time QuillBot ↗.

QuillBot is an editing tool more than a drafting tool. You bring the text, and it helps you reword it, shorten it or check it. That makes it a different kind of product from assistants like Claude or ChatGPT, which write from a short brief Claude pricing ↗.

What it does well

Paraphrasing is the strength. Premium unlocks 9 built in modes plus unlimited custom modes, side by side mode comparison, history, adjustable synonyms and 23 languages QuillBot ↗. That is useful for changing tone or simplifying a dense paragraph.

It is cheap. Premium costs $8.33 a month billed yearly, which QuillBot says is 58 percent off QuillBot ↗. You can pause Premium from your account page and not be billed during the pause QuillBot ↗.

The extras are useful. Premium includes 25,000 words a month of plagiarism checking, a 6,000 word summarizer with custom summaries, a translator for more than 40 languages and full AI detector access QuillBot ↗. Eesel AI notes a 4.8 out of 5 Trustpilot rating from more than 12,000 reviews eesel AI ↗.

The free plan is real. It includes the paraphraser in 2 modes, summaries up to 1,200 words, basic grammar fixes, a limited AI detector and limited AI chat QuillBot ↗.

Where it falls short

The free plan is small. The paraphraser takes only 100 words at a time, the humanizer is limited to 100 words, and there is no plagiarism checker QuillBot ↗. That is enough to reword a sentence but not a full email or web page.

It is not a drafting tool. For original business writing such as proposals or web pages, an AI assistant will do more Claude pricing ↗. Eesel AI also calls QuillBot's humanizer weaker than some rivals and notes a short refund window eesel AI ↗.

Pricing details are thin on the vendor page. QuillBot shows only the annual Premium price; the monthly price, Team pricing, free trial and refund terms are not shown QuillBot ↗. Hands on testing is in progress; we will update this review with results.
