AI AND YOUR JOB
AI proof jobs: the 50 we track, least exposed first
No job is AI proof in the sense of nothing ever changing. What exists is a real spread: in the 50 jobs we broke down task by task, the least exposed job has 17% of its tasks exposed and the most exposed has 67%. This page ranks them from safest to most exposed, using our own task data rather than opinion.

A plan written for your job, not a template
- Your tasks, sorted. Every core task of your job, with what AI does today, what it only speeds up and what stays yours. Each verdict carries its source.
- The tools, set up. The AI tools actually used in your job, what they cost, and the steps to run them yourself rather than be replaced by them.
- What to do about it. A word for word script for asking for more money or more responsibility, and the roles people in your job move into, with pay and outlook from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

What the safest jobs have in common
Looking down the list, three things keep a job low on it. The first is physical presence: work that happens with hands, in a place, on something that is not a document. The second is accountability that a person has to carry, where a professional body or a regulator requires a named human to sign. The third is unscripted judgment with other people, where the hard part is reading the room rather than producing the output.
Notice what is not on that list: difficulty, training length and pay. Several jobs needing years of study sit high on the exposure list, and several that need none sit at the bottom. The thing that protects a job is the shape of its tasks, not its prestige.

How to read this honestly
Two warnings. A low score means AI products cannot do most of this job's tasks today, measured in October 2026. It does not mean the job is safe forever, and it does not account for a company deciding to need fewer people for other reasons. Equally, a high score does not mean the job disappears. In most high exposure jobs on our list, the Bureau of Labor Statistics still projects openings, because the tasks AI takes are usually the slowest and least valued parts of the role.
If you want the honest version for one job rather than the league table, open that job's page. Every task carries a link to the evidence behind its verdict, including the cases where the evidence is a vendor's own documentation and should be read as such.
Common questions
What makes a job AI proof?
In our data, three things: physical presence, accountability that a named person has to carry, and unscripted judgment with other people. Difficulty and pay do not predict it.
Is any job completely safe from AI?
No. Every job we have broken down has at least some tasks AI already helps with. The difference between jobs is how many, and how central those tasks are.
Where do these scores come from?
From our own task by task work. Core tasks come from the US Labor Department O*NET database, and each one is checked against shipping AI products, with the source linked on the job page.
Should I switch to one of these jobs?
Only if the skills carry over. Each job page lists the roles people actually move into from there, with pay and outlook, which is a more useful starting point than picking the lowest score on this page.
